Yesterday I explained how you can change your blogger blog template. That post was centred on changing new custom blogger
templates obtained from third party websites. Today, I will focus mainly on how
you can modify and change the pre-installed templates from your blogger dashboard;
modify the background and the layout of your
blog.
blog.
Here we go:
Click “Template” on the left
menu,
Then click on “Customise” button
as seen below. This will open up the “Template Designer” where you can change
the template, background, adjust widths, layout of
your blog etc.
your blog etc.
On the “Template Designer” page, take
note of the "Templates", "Background", "Layout",
"Adjust Widths" and "Advanced" Links".
You can click on them to make some custom adjustments to your blog.
You can use your creativity to play
around with the “Template Designer” and when you are done, click “Apply To
Blog”. You must click on it to apply any change you make to your blog.
Templates:
When you are on the "Templates" page, you
should see:
Right there, you can choose from the
different available templates. The preview
is always shown down the page. Each
Template group has sub-templates which you can choose from. Just choose
the one you like.
Background:
When you click on "Background", you should
see:
At this point, you can remove/change the
background image and also change the main colour theme. You can really make
your blog stand out with the options here especially with the background image.
To add a background image to your
blog, click the “small arrow” as seen in
the picture above. A window will pop-up
where you can choose the image of
your choice. You can also click the
“upload image” option to upload an image
from your computer as the background
image.
Layout:
When you click on "Layout",
you should see:
Here, you can change the layout of your
blog, to let’s say "3 columns", (
one side bar by the right and the other sidebar by
the left). You can also change the layout of the "Footer" region to 3
columns so you can easily give space for
your widgets and even Adsense ads.
Adjust Widths:
When you click on "Adjust widths", you
should see:
Right there, you can adjust the width of
your blog and the sidebars. To me, the
default size is OK. Hence, you can just
leave it as it is.
Advanced:
When you click on "Advanced", you should
see;
Here, you can make a lot of
changes especially with regards to colour
combination and font types.
